05/2007: Towel Origami

Call me a curmudgeon (and many people do) but I get intensely irritated by towels being twisted into shapes of swans, hearts, maps of New Zealand, etc and put on my hotel bed, so that they are not in the bathroom when I am dripping wet. I want my towels neatly folded beside the shower where they belong and housekeeping staff to spend more time on things that matter, like replacing the empty toilet roll - and not rolling up bits of cloth in the hope of getting a tip for being cute and clever.

And while I’m on the subject of towels, something else that irritates me are those smug cards found in hotels bathrooms sanctimoniously bleating about how they want to save the environment by not washing the towels. Please! We all know it’s about bottom line profits – particularly when absolutely no other attempt to ‘save the environment’ being made. Grrrrrrr.
